6th World Conference on Marine Biodiversity
PeerJ are delighted to announce that we will again be supporting the World Conference on Marine Biodiversity (WCMB) – WCMB 2023 – being held between the 2nd and 5th of July 2023 in Penang, Malaysia.
The WCMB series is a tri-annual global conference which is organised by PeerJ Hub’s partner the International Association for Biological Oceanography (IABO). Distinguished scientists from across the globe will discuss and share their findings on marine biodiversity in relation to the changing climate and conservation.
You can register to attend WCMB 2023 here: https://www.wcmb2023.org/registration-submission/
PeerJ will support WCMB 2023 with a Conference Collection based on the themes of the WCMB series as well as sponsoring four PeerJ Awards for early career researchers.
WCMB 2023 Conference Collection
WCMB 2023 will publish a Conference Collection in the journal PeerJ Life & Environment through the IABO Hub, the publishing home of the International Association for Biological Oceanography and the official publishing partner of the WCMB series.
The IABO Hub features the latest biological oceanography research published by the members of IABO. Anyone can browse the Hub and make a presubmission enquiry, but you can unlock more features – and benefits – by joining IABO and the Hub Community.
It’s free to join the Hub, and IABO. You’ll benefit from a Hub publishing discount, increased visibility of your research in your community, and you can access, and donate to, the Hub Cooperative Publishing Fund.
Registrants for the WCMB automatically receive IABO Lifetime Membership.
Submissions to the IABO Hub are assessed for community relevance by the Hub Editorial Team, made up of IABO members. Articles are peer reviewed and published in PeerJ Life & Environment.
All presenters and attendees of WCMB 2023 are eligible to submit research articles related to the themes of the conference series to the Conference Collection.
Previous WCMB Collections
The 5th World Conference on Marine Biodiversity Collection features research articles from selected papers presented at the WCMB 2020, hosted by the University of Auckland but held virtually due to the Covid pandemic. The Conference Collection PDF also contains additional material, such as panel discussions from the conference and interviews with each of the PeerJ Award Winners.
The 4th World Conference on Marine Biodiversity Collection contains abstracts, posters, talk slides, and full-length manuscripts describing work presented at the 2018 World Conference on Marine Biodiversity which took place in May 2018 and was located in Montreal, Canada.
PeerJ and the IABO Hub are sponsoring four Early Career Researcher awards at WCMB 2023, two for oral presentations and two for posters. Each award winner will receive a free publication in PeerJ Life & Environment (subject to peer review) and a feature about their research posted on the PeerJ blog. You can see interviews with the PeerJ Award winners from WCMB 2020 here.
