PeerJ sponsors student prizes at African Bioacoustic Community Conference 2020
PeerJ is delighted to sponsor eight student prizes at the African Bioacoustic Community Conference 2020.
The 2020 African Bioacoustics Community conference will build on the success of the first conference held in 2018, providing the opportunity to learn from some of the leading researchers working on bioacoustic projects within Africa.
Bioacoustics covers all matters related to the production, transmission, and reception of sound in nature, as well as the investigation and use of natural sounds by people and impacts of human sounds on the environment. The conference will show-case the diverse field of bioacoustics and bring together researchers from around the world in a safe and inclusive virtual setting:
“We at the African Bioacoustics Community want to make the science of sound accessible to the continent of Africa. We cannot achieve this without a diverse and inclusive mindset, without valuing new ideas, without celebrating different approaches. We hope to foster connection and relationships between like-minded people who are passionate about a unique and fascinating field of science.”
We look forward to featuring the prize winners on the PeerJ blog. All winners of PeerJ sponsored prizes will also receive a free publication in PeerJ (subject to peer review).
We know that cost can be a barrier to open access, especially for early career researchers. If you’d like to discuss a PeerJ ECR Prize Award at your next conference, please get in touch (email@example.com).
