The Hellenic Society for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics (HSCBB) just had their annual meeting, and we are pleased to say that they will be submitting papers from that meeting to PeerJ for peer-review and possible inclusion in a PeerJ Collection. We asked them to prepare a Guest Blog to help announce this Collection:

The Hellenic Society for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics (HSCBB) is extremely pleased to announce its affiliation with PeerJ. The HSCBB conference, which is the major annual event of the HSCBB, aims to be a forum for researchers in the relevant fields from Greece, Cyprus and other countries to present their work and creatively interact to establish new scientific networks and collaborations. Due to the flexibility of PeerJ Collections, selected HSCBB conference abstracts will be invited to submit full-length papers to PeerJ for peer-review and possible publication in the PeerJ journal – all articles published this way will then appear in a dedicated HSCBB PeerJ Collection.

The HSCBB is a common effort between Greece and Cyprus to promote computational biology, bioinformatics and related disciplines in the country and abroad. Among others, a crucial aim for the society is the organization of national and international conferences, seminars, lectures and talks related to computational biology and bioinformatics.

The HSCBB has organized 10 national annual conferences and has more than 600 members. The HSCBB has invited more than 25 invited keynote speakers from abroad and since 2013 it has been affiliated to the ISCB society and a bronze member of the GOBLET consortium. Additionally, since 2014, HSCBB’s conferences became ISCB affiliated conferences. Moreover, HSCBB is one of the 13 participating institutions of the Greek ELIXIR National Node, an ELIXIR observer.

The HSCBB wishes to express its gratitude to PeerJ for giving us the opportunity to submit our selected conference proceedings to their journal.
