Summary

I am University Professor of Epidemiology, Ecology of Diseases and Culicidae Systematics in the School of Public Health at the University of São Paulo, Brazil. I received my education in Brazil, and in the United States, with post-doctoral studies in Molecular Phylogeny of Anophelinae at the Natural Museum of Natural History at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC, and a one-year position as a Senior Visiting Researcher at The Walter Reed Biosystematics Unit, Suitland, MD. I have a broad background in biology and public health, with specific training and expertise in key research areas for this application, especially those related to fieldwork, species identification and delimitation using morphology and molecular tools. I have laid the groundwork for the proposed research by developing skills in administrating projects, including staffing, budgets, Graduate Research Assistant-associated projects and Post Doctorates. During my university career, I have collaborated with many other researchers, and produced more than 150 peer-reviewed publications from several projects.
