Peter Dovč
Summary
Peter Dovč graduated from the Biotechnical Faculty, University of Ljubljana in 1981 and entered graduate course in Genetics and Animal breeding at the same Faculty. In 1984 he entered the doctoral program at the Technical University of Munich, from which he received his PhD degree in 1988. After having postdoctoral positions at Justus Liebig University in Giessen and at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, he joined Gendiagnosezentrum in Grub, Munich in 1992. In 1994/95 he was visiting scholar at the Department of Animal Science, University of California, Davis. From 1995 he is teaching Genetics, Animal breeding, Animal Biotechnology and Molecular Biology at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. At the Department of Animal Science of the Biotechnical Faculty is he leading a research group in the field of comparative genomics and genome biodiversity. He is serving as a reviewer for several international scientific journals and for different research agencies. He is visiting professor at the University of Sarajevo, University of Osijek and Erasmus/Socrates professor at the University of Milan. He received scientific awards from Technical University of Munich (1990), Joung professor's award from the University of Ljubljana (1997), International Society for Animal Genetics (1998), Slovenian national Sigismund Zois research award (2007), University of Ljubljana Award (2018) and Fran Jesenko Award for life achievements (2019).
