Summary
I'm an evolutionary biologist interested in the relationship between genes, development and organismal function in the limb skeleton of vertebrates. My research uses a long-limbed mouse model, called Longshanks, which we developed using selective breeding. With this unique model, we aim to study how genetic variation within populations is first translated into variation in developmental processes (e.g, cellular mechanisms of longitudinal bone growth), next into phenotypic variation in limb bone length, and ultimately into variation in whole-organism performance.
