Summary

. PhD in sea environmental protection (University of Siena, Italy). He has a permanent position as senior researcher at COISPA since 1994. His focus interests are: fishery biology, growth, population dynamics, fish physiology, gears selectivity, fish welfare. In particular his activity is on: age reading in fish (otoliths, spines, vertebrae etc.); analysis of sex and maturity stage in fish, crustacean and cephalopods; statistical analysis, LFDs analysis; fish tagging; age validation. He conducted several trawl surveys, discard and landing sampling projects on different commercial fishery fleets (small scale, trawl, purse seine, long lines, driftnet). He is involved in the Data Collection Programmes since 2002 and he is responsible of the fishery dependent Data Collection in GSA19 and trawl survey in GSA10 (2013-2016). He is author/co-author of several scientific publications and is member or chair of some working groups on age determination/maturity (ICES). He has participated to international groups on otoliths reading and age estimation and validation.
