Summary

Dr. Jimenez-Bremont´s research area is Plant Biotechnology, mainly focuses on studies of molecular mechanisms of plant response to stress, in particular molecular and functional characterization of genes involved in the response to abiotic stress (drought, salinity and extreme temperatures) and biotic (fungal interactions). We have studied crop plants such as bean and corn, and a CAM plant, cactus pear (Opuntia streptacantha). Furthermore, we are focused in Arabidopsis thaliana, as a molecular tool for functional characterization of plant genes. In this regard, we use of a combination of genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and bioinformatics approaches to understand the plant molecular mechanisms underlying biotic and abiotic stress tolerance.
