Summary

Iain joined James Cook University in 2015 as Deputy Vice Chancellor for Tropical Environments and Societies. He is passionate and committed to sustainable regional development and harnessing the tropics’ enormous potential through education and research. Prior to his current role he was the CEO & Director of the James Hutton Institute, the largest research institute in the UK specialising in agriculture, environment and rural development. He has an international reputation for applied research excellence particularly in the context of the biodiversity management, ecosystem services provided by agricultural landscapes and engaging human communities in the management of natural resources. He recently published a book on Food production and nature Conservation: Conflicts and Solutions (Routledge 2016).
