Summary
I am a quantitative ecologist studying the population dynamics of long-lived organisms. I specialize in the analysis of long-term data sets and building demographic models to understanding how populations change over time. I am currently a post-doctoral Research Associate working with Dr. Steve Latta at the National Aviary in Pittsburgh. I also teach graduate and undergraduate biostatistics at several Pittsburgh-area universities. Currently, my primary research focus is the integration of data from throughout the full annual cycle of migratory songbirds into models that will allow us to understand which components in birds’ complex life cycles have the greatest impact on fitness and population growth. I received my BS in biology from Seattle Pacific University in 2002 and served from 2004-2006 as a Peace Corps Volunteer in The Gambia, West Africa. I completed my doctorate in 2015 with Susan Kalisz at the University of Pittsburgh, where I studied the impacts of invasive species and overabundant deer on populations of forest plants and trees.
