Summary

Achille Schiavone, poultry nutritionist, is graduated in Veterinary Medicine at Turin University (Italy) in 1998. He obtained his PhD in Poultry Producton at University of Milan in 2002. Since 2001 he got a permanent position as Researcher in Animal Nutrition at Turin University and since 2011 he got a permanent position as Associate Professor in Animal Nutrition at the same University. He was Invited researcher at INRA-Tours (France) in 2002-2003 and invited professor at Uniersity of Bacelona (Spain) (2005 and 2006) and Murcia (Spain) (2010-2012). Since 2013 President of the Degree in "Production and Management of Farming and Wildlife Animals".
The research activity is mainly focused on the study of the effects of feed quality (polyunsaturatd fatty acids, natural and synthetic antioxidants, mycotoxins) on welfare and productive performance of poultry. Recently the research activity is also devoted to environment sustainability of animal productions and since 2012 is member of the Institute of Interdisciplinary Research for Sustainability (IRIS) which belongs to the University of Torino. He is also interested in parrots beahvior.
The activity in the Developing Countries is related to projects about the improvement of animal welfare, animal nutrition and animal productions (for poultry and ruminants) in Ecuador, Senegal and Burkina-Faso. Now he has published more than 100 papers (40 ISI) and compiled 4 book chapters.
