Hazel A Oxenford
Summary
Professor Hazel Oxenford is an expert in applied marine biology and marine management with a focus on coral reefs and small-scale fisheries. As both a fisheries scientist and marine ecologist based in Barbados, she has a particular interest in marine resource management in a changing world and especially on the implications for SIDS. Having obtained her PhD in Fisheries Science at UWI and then joined the staff at CERMES, UWI in 1991, she has extensive Caribbean research, teaching and consulting experience, and wide experience in supervision of postgraduate students. Her research has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, books and technical papers. Her most recent focus is on the challenges and opportunities associated with pelagic sargassum influxes to the Caribbean. She serves on numerous national, regional and international committees, boards and working groups as an expert scientist.
