Summary

I am a Rehabilitation Scientist and a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America. I have previously served as a clinician and investigator at the Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN), NIH Clinical Center, and the Washington DC VA Medical Center.

I currently serve the University of Colorado School of Medicine as a Visiting Professor within the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. In addition, I am Faculty Member for the ECHS GRECC within the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center.

Members of the Muscle Morphology, Mechanics, and Performance Laboratory (3MAP Lab) are engaged in research involving muscle plasticity in response to training, detraining, normal aging, and chronic disease. Our group's laboratory efforts included the development of sonographic methods for sarcopenia and myosteatosis screening, and exploring the physiologic advantages of eccentric muscle actions for use in rehabilitation interventions for older adults.
