Research Areas
• Animal Genetic Resources Conservation and Utilization: Genetic characteristics and diversity are studied to identify the values of conservation and breeding of China domestic local animal breeds.
• Functional Genomics of Special Traits in High Altitude native Animals: Genetic, physiological, and histological studies are undertaken to investigate the molecular mechanism of adaptation to extreme environment, growth and meat quality traits in Tibetan plateau native animals, such as Tibet Chicken, Tibet Pig and Yak, with methods of candidate genes, comparative genomics, gene chips, and biomolecular regulatory networks.
• Identification of Functional Genes and Molecular Breeding: Based on genetic characteristics and diversity of China local domestic animal breeds, our lab focuses on identification of functional genes and molecular markers in muscle development and lipid metabolism, and using in animal molecular breeding.
