Zhigang Jiang

Summary

Professor Zhigang Jiang received his Ph.D. of Wildlife Ecology and Management from University of Alberta, Canada in 1993. He has been a professor in Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences since 1996 and the Executive Director of Endangered Species Scientific Commission of China (National CITES Scientific Authority of China) since 1999. Dr. Jiang’s work focuses on the wild fauna, particularly the endangered mammals and its conservation in China. Dr. Jiang services as Chair of Science Committee, Chinese Wildlife Conservation Association, Commissioner of National Nature Reserve Commission, BIODIVERSITAS China National Commission. He also serves as Editor of Current Zoology; Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Biodiversity Sciences and Chinese Journal of Wildlife, and Dr. Jiang is or was on the editorial board of Oryx, Biological Conservation, Chinese Science Bulletin, Acta Theriologca Sinica and a dozen more journals. He is President of the Chinese Animal Behavioural Society, Vice President of Mammalogy Society of China and member of SSC/IUCN. Prof. Jiang was Whitley Award recipient in 2006 and serves as the member of the Jury of 2012 Indianapolis Prize. Professor Jiang authored or coauthored more than 200 referred scientific papers and edited 20 books. So far, he has supervised 34 Ph. D. students and 13 master students.
