Rajarajan A Thandavarayan
Dr. Rajarajan Amirthalingam Thandavarayan, obtained a masters degree in Pharmacy (Pharmaceutical chemistry) from Dr. MGR. Medical University, India and worked as a Guest lecturer and research associate at Guru Jambheswar University (India). Later, he received his doctorate in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Niigata University of Pharmacy and Applied Life Sciences at Niigata City, Japan. Then, he worked as post doctoral research fellow at Niigata University of Pharmacy and Applied Life Sciences at Niigata City, Japan and worked as a research associate at the University of Bristol. He has published more than 70 research articles in well reputed journals and also 8 book chapters. Rajarajan joined the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences at the Houston Methodist Research Institute as a postdoctoral research scientist. He investigates the epigenetic modifications and responses in cardiovascular disease under diabetic conditions, particularly; he is trying to understand how these chromatin remodeling enzymes (histone deacetylases) regulate cell-survivability, cardiac fibrosis, oxidative stress, endothelial dysfunction and insulin resistance, in response to various metabolic stresses and ageing.
