I am interested in understanding behaviors shaping leadership and collective decision making.
I have been investigating how evolutionary pressures such as predation and habitat affect group decision making in wild freshwater fish. I have looked into the underlying mechanisms that allow human groups to make decisions that are better than even their best members. Lately, I have been using interactive robotic fishes to study aspects of behavior spanning from social interactions and leadership, to decision making, personality, and the effect of pharmaceutical compounds.
