Robert W Bastian
Dr. Bastian completed a 20-year academic career beginning at Washington University in St. Louis, and finishing as Professor of Otolaryngology at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois. He then founded Bastian Voice Institute, a tertiary care laryngology practice with a mission that includes patient care, teaching, and research. With a clinical staff of 4 (building to 5 in 2019), Bastian Voice Institute sees patients from a wide area, including (so far) 47 States and several foreign countries.
Dr. Bastian also offers a teaching website called Laryngopedia as a public service. That website features over 2000 high-quality photographs, an encyclopedia, teaching videos, and articles.
Particular interests of Dr. Bastian and other clinicians include vocal cord microsurgery, spasmodic dysphonia, larynx cancer, nonorganic disorders, swallowing problems, sensory neuropathic cough, and retrograde cricopharyngeus dysfunction.
