Nor Azian Abdul Murad
Summary
Dr. Nor Azian graduated in Bachelor of Biomedical Science from Universiti Putra Malaysia in 1999 and Master in Medical Science from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 2004. In July 2003, she was appointed as a scientific officer in UKM Medical Molecular Biology Institute (UMBI) and later in 2005 as a tutor, before obtaining her PhD in Clinical Medicine from University of Queensland, Australia in 2010. She then, returned to UMBI as a Research Fellow. Currently, she is a team leader for the non-cancer, neurogenerative and ageing group under the supervision of Datuk Dr A Rahman A Jamal and Prof Dato’ Dr Wan Zurinah. Her current research focused on understanding the genetic basis of neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric diseases including Parkinson Disease, Bipolar and depression. She also working close together with clinicians from the Pediatric Department of UKM Medical Centre to determine the genetic landscape of rare diseases such as VACTERL association disease and Osteogenesis Imperfecta. At the National level, she involved in the MyGenome Project and Genome Wide Association Study on Diabetes.
