Professor Doctor Necmi AKSOY completed his thesis entitled “The Vegetation of the Elmacik Mountain (Düzce),” he received the Ph. D. degree in Department of Forestry, Forest Botany Program from Istanbul University in July 2006. He was given the title of Assistant Professor in April 2007, and following this, he became an Associate Professor in September 2012, and become a Professor in December 2017. He still continues his studies as a head of Department of Forest Botany at Düzce University Faculty of Forestry.
Aksoy published a number of academic studies in national and international areas especially about flora, vegetation, biological diversity. He continues his studies on dendrology, herbaria, arboretum and botanical gardens and his current interests focus on invasive plants, plant systematic and plant sociology. He also works in Herbarium of Duzce University Faculty of Forestry (DUOF) and Biodiversity Implementation and Research Center (DU–BIYOM) with the aim of protecting biodiversity in the western Black Sea Region of Turkey. He worked as a documentary adviser at TRT (Turkish Radio and Television), and as an editorial board member of Journal “Buğday” in between 1999 and 2000. In addition, he worked as a science adviser in Nezahat Gökyiğit Botanical Garden and Saint Joseph Museum of Natural History in between 2003 and 2006.
