Summary

As a marine biologist who specializes in working at the science-policy interface I have a wide range of experience from leading evidence provision and outreach projects to parliamentary and government engagement. I chair numerous committees related to marine policy and national and international coordination committees such as European Network of Marine Research Institutes and Stations (MARS) for which I am president.

I am Deputy Director at the Marine Biological Association MBA (and Interim Director from October 2017 to April 2018). I am also Director of Policy and Knowledge Exchange which involves ensuring that we have a successful strategy for delivery for many areas including publications (journals and magazines), membership, library and information provision, communications, education and outreach and all areas related to the profile of and engagement on behalf of the Association.

My original training was as a Marine Biologist speciallising in benthic ecology (my PhD applied macroecology theory to sandy beaches) and I am also a trained commercial diver.
