Marco A Vásquez-Dávila
Professor and researcher of the Technological Institute of the Valley of Oaxaca, Mexico since 1991. Professor of Ethnobotany, Ethnoecology, Society / Nature Relationship and Agrobiodiversity in Mexico, Cuba and Colombia. Professor of the Program Abroad of the University of Pennsylvania (1999-2003). Visiting Professor at the Tropical Research Center (CITRO) at the Veracruz University.
He has worked in Mexico with seven ethnic groups from Oaxaca and Tabasco as well as with Afro-descendants from Cuba and Oaxaca (Mexico). Founding Director of the Natural History Museum of Tabasco (1989) and of the Degree in Biology in Oaxaca (1994). President of the Mexican Ethnobiological Association (2004-2007) and the Collective of Studies of Biology and Culture of Oaxaca (2012-2015).
Founding member of the Biocultural Heritage Network of the National Council of Science and Technology of Mexico. Author, editor and arbiter of more than 100 texts on bioculturalism. Director of 70 professional residences, undergraduate and master's thesis. Speaker of 300 papers in national and international congresses and lecturer on Ethnoecology and Biocultural Heritage in 30 occasions.
