Our research group focusses on developing novel and potential bio-insecticides against several Lepidoptera pests, including Plutella xylostella (diamondback moth), Spodoptera litura (Oriental leafworm moth),(Conopomorpha cramerella (Snellen) (cocoa pod borer) and Chrysodeixis sp. Insect pests are a major limitation to
increase global production for food. In order to protect human health and food supply, new targets for synthetic insecticides must be considered. By employing proteomics, enzymology,
computational biology and molecular
biology approaches, we aim for better
understanding in molecular mechanism
about enzyme inhibitors for selected
enzymes and how insect response to it. Hereby, selected enzymes which play a central role in metamorphosis,
moulting, ageing, reproduction, behavior and polyphenism and particularly those that differ from mammalian
counterparts, have potential as new targets for insecticides.
