Summary

I was an undergraduate in cold, snowy Chicago, and got my first degree from Northwestern's then-experimental Integrated Science Program, designed to train people for such hybrid disciplines such as geophysics, neurobiology and biochemistry. Although keen on the life sciences, I did a PhD in Physics at CalTech and started a long detour into dynamical systems. After around a decade as a postdoc, I ended up in cool, rainy Manchester where my evolution into a better mathematical biologist continues.
