Marta Carrara was born in Segrate, Italy, in 1989. She obtained her bachelor degree in Biomedical engineering at Politecnico of Milan in 2011. In the same year she got a scholarship to partecipate to the Erasmus international program and she spent the first year of master abroad, at KUL university of Leuven, Belgium. The master thesis was done in collaboration with the University of Virginia, Charlottesville (VA, USA) where she spent 6 months from September 2013 till March 2014. She got the master degree in April 2014. After one year spent as research assistant at Politecnico of Milan, Department of Electronic, Information and Bioengineering, she started the PhD in November 2015. She is working on a European project, Shockomics, which aims to shed light on the molecular trigger of acute heart failure in association to shock, through a multiscale approach.
