Full Professor of University. She graduated in Geological Sciences in 1982 at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, obtaining a doctorate from the same university in 1986. During her predoctoral period she did a long stay (1982-1986) at the Geologish Instituut in Groningen, the Netherlands. In 1988, she joined the UCM Department of Paleontology as Full Professor of the University. She has been Member of the Scientific Advisory Commission of the National Center for Research on Human Evolution, CNIEH, (2005-2013). She has been a member of the UCM Organizing Committee of the University Access Test for the subject of Earth and Environmental Sciences (2013/2014). She has participated in numerous evaluation commissions of different Ministries, Comunidad de Madrid, Junta de Castilla y León, Government of the Basque Country, etc. (National Plan Projects, predoctoral fellowships, postdoctoral fellowships, Juan de la Cierva and Ramón y Cajal contracts, Arquímedes Awards, etc.). She has published more than 90 scientific articles, participated in more than 50 congresses and scientific meetings (mostly international). She has directed 4 Doctoral Theses and 20 Advanced Studies Diplomas (DEAs) and Master's Degree Works. She is the Coordinator of the PhD program in Geology and Geological Engineering of the Faculty of Geological Sciences (UCM)
