My research interests are Comparative Anatomy, Experimental Embryology and Evo-Devo. Also, topics in History and Philosophy of Biology, focused on Evolutionary Thinking.
2007 – 2010: Bachelor of Science Programme in Biology. Faculty of Science, University of Chile. I was the first of my class. Grade Average: 6.0 Distinction Honours Degree (Grading scale: 1.0 to 7.0).
2012 – 2014: Master in Biological Sciences. Laboratory of Neurobiology and Biology of Cognition. Laboratory of Ontogeny and Phylogeny. Faculty of Science. University of Chile.
2009 – Present: Laboratory of Ontogeny and Phylogeny, University of Chile. Head of Laboratory: Dr. Alexander O. Vargas. Project: Evolutionary innovations of bird digit development (Fondecyt 11080258). Project: Ongoing Controversies on Avian Digit Identity: An Integrative Aproach to Developmental and Morphological evidence (Fondecyt 1120424). I have worked on the re-examination of the neoavian carpus and tarsus in the chicken (Gallus gallus), japanese quail (Coturnix japonica) duck (Anas Platyrinchus), zebra finch (Taeniopygia guttata), budgerigar (Melopsittacus undulatus), Southern Lapwing (Vanellus chilensis) and the paleognath bird, the Chilean Tinamou Nothoprocta perdicaria, using cartilage staining, histological preparation of serial sections, and following skeletal elements at close intervals through development of the wrist and ankle.
