Alejandra KUN


Laura Lafon Hughes was born in Uruguay, 22/03/1973. She is married and has a 12-year old son. She has always lived, studied and worked in her native country.

She works at Instituto de Investigaciones Biológicas Clemente Estable (IIBCE), Montevideo. She has a budget position as technician but does in fact do research and teaching.

She is a researchr degree-I belonging to the National System of Researchers (Sistema Nacional de Investigadores; SNI, ANII; Nivel I).

Now she is at the Genetics Department (IIBCE), but she has previosly done research in Neuroscience, mainly in the Neurochemistry Department (IIBCE). She has also teached Cell Biology at Facultad de Ciencias (UdelaR) and at Facultad de Medicina (CLAEH).

Her main research interests are in the biomedical area: She is particularly interested in the basic biology of cancer and neurodegeneration.
