João Pedro Martins

João Pedro Martins graduated in Biomedical Engineering by the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD) in 2012. Two years later he got his MSc degree in Biomedical Engineering by the Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto (FEUP). For this purpose, JP Martins joined the Instituto de Engenharia Biomédica (INEB), and investigated the communication between injured bone and the hypothalamic Neuropeptide Y system, under the supervision of Juliana Alves and Meriem Lamghari.
Currently, as a PhD student of the BiotechHealth Doctoral Programme, he has been developing his research activity under the supervision of Bruno Sarmento, in co-supervision with Cristina Barrias and Hélder A. Santos, at INEB/Instituto de Inovação e Investigação em Saúde (i3S). In the framework of his PhD, JP Martins is strongly motivated in increasing the transport of nanoparticles across the intestine microenvironment, to help make oral delivery of biopharmaceuticals a reality.
