Gilman Kit Hang Siu
Dr. Siu is currently employed as Assistant Professor of Department of Health Technology and Informatics in PolyU and Honorary Assistant Professor of Department of Microbiology in HKU.
He received his Bachelor degree in Biomedical Science with First-Class Honour from the PolyU in 2006. Hereafter, he started his academic research on drug resistance mechanism in Mycobacterium tuberculosis in HKU Microbiology, where he received his PhD degree in 2010.
In recent years, Dr. SIU and his team have identified several novel genetic regions that associated with multidrug resistant TB circulating in China and Hong Kong. The findings also help him to get the Keystone Symposia Scientific Award and local and international research funding. As a registered Medical Technologist in Hong Kong, he is very keen on the development of advanced molecular assays for rapid identification of resistance determinants in M. tuberculosis. Some of them are currently using for diagnostic services in HA hospital and private laboratory.
Dr. SIU also serves as a fellow member of various local and international professional societies and bodies and editorial board members of several clinical microbiology journals. He is also a force task member on Laboratory Accreditation for Clinical Microbiology laboratory in Hong Kong.
