Summary
Since MSc in AI from Edinburgh in 1990 (or so), I have been trying to understand how best to solve large-scale multi-criterion optimization problems; this includes doing machine learning -- which is mostly about optimizing predictive models. Along the way I've worked at Us of Edinburgh, Reading, and Exeter, and am now back at Edinburgh (with Heriot-Watt). I've made a fair amount of progress on the aforementioned question, and also some impact, but much more still to do.
