Summary

I am a Professor and Knowlton Family Chair at The Jackson Laboratory (JAX) and serve as the Deputy Director of the JAX Cancer Center. Prior to joining JAX, I was a founding faculty member of The Institute for Genomic Research (TIGR) where I helped to pioneer the application of large-scale genomics to gene discovery and whole genome sequencing. At JAX, my collaborators and I run the Mouse Genome Informatics (MGI) database– a resource that is free to the entire scientific community. MGI integrates diverse data to facilitate the use of the laboratory mouse as a model system for human biology and disease. My research group collaborates with basic researchers and clinicians to create and use mouse models to understand the genetic and molecular drivers of cancer and birth defects.
