Mrs. Barbara Meyers Ford provides professional & scholarly publishers, professional societies, & their suppliers with advice & technical assistance in management, marketing [research, planning, management, promotions, & product launches], new product development, & planning [operations & strategic], along with work in those areas specifically directed to publishing programs/technologies. During her 40-year career, Barbara held increasingly responsible positions at National Rehabilitation Association, American Chemical Society, & Chamber of Commerce of the U.S. to name a few former employers.
Either as staff or on contract, Barbara provided on-site leadership & operations management to Pan American Health Organization (director fulfillment & distribution), Optical Society of America (adjunct director marketing), Society for Applied Spectroscopy (executive director), Journal of Neurosurgery Publishing Group (associate publisher), & American Geophysical Union (director of publications).
Holding degrees in Science, Technology, & Public Policy (MA, area of concentration: technology assessment) and Journalism (BA, science minor) from George Washington University, she is an adjunct professor in the GWU College of Professional Studies Masters in Publishing Program. Among her many contributions to the industry, Barbara is one of 16 founders of the Society for Scholarly Publishing and a past president of the Council of Science Editors.
