Summary

My interest is in taxonomy and larval ecology of coral-reef fishes, and, most recently, collating the mtDNA barcodes of the shorefishes of the western Atlantic and eastern Pacific Oceans, with a focus on the Galapagos Islands. At present, a large fraction of these species have been sequenced for the COI gene marker, in the case of the Greater Caribbean, up to 90% of the shallow shorefishes are barcoded. I am also coauthoring the upcoming new edition of the Fishes of the Galapagos Islands.

Guy Harvey Research Institute
January 2007
The Guy Harvey Research Institute (GHRI) is a collaboration between the renowned marine artist, scientist and explorer, Dr. Guy Harvey, and Halmos College of Arts & Sciences & Guy Harvey Oceanographic Research Center. The mission of the GHRI is to provide the scientific information necessary to understand, conserve, and effectively manage the world's marine fishes and their ecosystems. The GHRI is one of only a handful of private organizations dedicated exclusively to the science-based conservation of marine fish populations and biodiversity.

Marine Biology
OSF is a foundation supporting marine biology research and its core emphasis is publishing an open-access journal focusing on coral reef fish taxonomy: the Journal of the Ocean Science Foundation. The journal has published 240 new species descriptions for tropical marine fishes in 40 volumes since 2008. The authors comprise mostly the leading fish taxonomists, the late, and legendary, Jack Randall, as well as Gerry Allen, Dave Greenfield, Rick Winterbottom and others.
